What ranks do shoulder boards come in?

Shoulder boards are uniform insignia used primarily in the U.S. Army to denote rank. They are a distinctive feature that represents various ranks from Corporal up to Sergeant Major of the Army (SGM) as well as all officer ranks. This inclusion of both non-commissioned officer (NCO) ranks and officer ranks thereby provides a visual indication of a soldier's grade and level within the military hierarchy.

The other ranks such as Private (E-1 to E-3) and Specialist (E-4) do not utilize shoulder boards; instead, they are denoted by different types of insignia. The same is true for cadet ranks, which typically use different insignia that are specific to training environments rather than operational ranks.
